BAMF integration courses
dtz-bildungswerk berlin gmbh offers integration courses for immigrants funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) . In addition to the general integration courses, dtz-bildung & qualification also runs special language courses such as women’s integration courses , youth integration courses and literacy courses .
Goal of the integration courses : Acquisition of the “Integration Course Certificate” , which the participants receive by passing the language test “Deutschtest für Zuwanderer (DTZ)” at language level B1 and passing the final test of the orientation course “Life in Germany” .
Course times: mornings, afternoons and evenings
1. General Integration Courses
The general integration course is designed for participants who do not match the profile of a special course or do not want one. It consists of 600 hours of language training and 100 hours of orientation courses. If the course is completed with A2 but not with B1, the participants may apply for 300 hours of repeat courses. Women and men are taught together. The aim of the course is to obtain the “Integration Course Certificate” .
2. Literacy Courses
Reading and writing is the key to participation in modern society!
The dtz-bildungswerk runs literacy courses for both primary and secondary illiterates. The participants learn in small groups with a maximum of 16 people, which enables intensive individual support from the lecturers. The scope of the course is 900 hours of instruction plus 100 hours of instruction in the orientation course. Participants can extend the scope of the course by a further 300 hours if they wish. The aim of the course is to obtain the “Integration Course Certificate “.
3. Women Integration Courses
The dtz-bildungswerk offers special women’s integration courses . Some women prefer to study within a same-sex group. This wish is taken into account in the concept. The number of participants must not exceed 23. The scope of the course is 900 hours of instruction compared to 600 hours of instruction in the general integration course. The course ends with the German test for immigrants. If the language level is A2, but not yet B1, the participant can apply for a repeat course of 300 hours of instruction. The women also attend an orientation course lasting 100 hours. The aim of the course is to obtain the “Integration Course Certificate “.
4. Youth Courses
dtz-bildungswerk is one of the few language course providers to offer special youth integration courses . The offer is aimed at young people who are no longer of school age and young adults between the ages of 16 and 26 with little or no knowledge of German. The group size must not exceed 20 participants.
Learning in an age-homogeneous group offers the possibility to select the lesson content according to the target group. In the youth course, the topics of school leaving certificate, training, job and leisure activities are in the foreground. In addition, basic knowledge in mathematics, history, geography and natural sciences is taught. If interested, the participants can complete an internship in the 8th module . In addition, numerous excursions are offered in the youth course, which serve to provide orientation in Berlin and Germany.
The youth course consists of 900 hours of instruction plus 100 hours of instruction in the orientation course. After the language course there is an exam, the “German test for immigrants”. If this is assessed as language level A2 but not yet B1, an additional 300 hours can be requested. The aim of the course is to obtain the “Integration Course Certificate “.
Professional Language Courses (BSK)
1. Professional Language Courses
What are the professional language courses?
The professional language courses according to §45 a AufenthG are a language learning opportunity for people with a migration background who want to improve their chances on the job market.
The courses consist of:
- Basic modules (400 to 500 teaching units each)
- Special modules (400 teaching units)
A full-time course consisting of one module usually lasts four months.
The modules conclude with a telc exam. If you pass the exam, you will receive a certificate confirming that you have reached a new language level. You need the certificate in order to be able to work in certain professions. It also helps you when looking for a job or on your further professional path, because you can use it to prove your knowledge of German.
Who can participate?
The professional language courses are aimed at people with a migration background. This includes immigrants (including asylum seekers from countries with a high protection rate), EU citizens and Germans with a migration background who
- need a certain language level for professional recognition or for access to the profession,
- are in training or are looking for a training position
- are registered as looking for work and/or receive unemployment benefits
- have a job and whose knowledge of German is not sufficient to cope with everyday work
What other requirements do you have to meet?
In order to take part in the professional language courses, you must have completed the integration course.
How can you register?
If you are interested in taking part in the professional language courses, speak to your agent at the job center or employment agency. The job center / employment agency will then entitle you to take part in a module that suits you. Our staff will then take care of everything else for you.
Participation in the modules of the professional language courses is then free of charge for you .
2. Special Module "Non-academic health professions"
As part of the job-related German language support according to Section 45a of the Residence Act, dtz-bildung & qualification gGmbH offers:
Special module “Non-academic health professions”
For professional language preparation (B2) in the context of the recognition of professional qualifications
What does the special module offer?
The special module provides the basis for job-related language training in the context of recognition procedures for professional qualifications for non-academic health professions.
This includes the following professional groups:
- health workers and nurses
- maternity nurses
- physiotherapists
The course consists of a total of 450 units , of which:
- 400 units of job-related language course with the aim of German B2
- 50 units of job application training with a focus on health professions
The course concludes with a telc B2 exam. If you pass the exam, you will receive a certificate that confirms you have reached a new language level and helps with recognition in your desired professional field.
Who can participate?
The participants in a special module in the non-academic health professions are immigrants with German as a second language,
- who have completed training in nursing, geriatric care, pediatric nursing, maternity care or physiotherapy in their country of origin
- as part of the recognition of their profession , intend to apply to the respective state authorities for recognition of the equivalence of their professional qualifications or have already done so
- aspire to work as a nurse, maternity nurse or physiotherapist or already as a nursing assistant or assistant in one
Health professionals are employed and/or
- are currently in an adjustment measure or in a preparatory measure for a knowledge test (health and nursing, physiotherapy, maternity care) and need language support for a successful completion.
What other requirements do you have to meet?
In order to take part in the special module “Non-academic health professions” you must have reached language level B1.

Special Professional Language Course with Practical Language Lessons
What are professional language courses with subject-specific lessons?
UB1 courses are professional language courses with subject-specific lessons. It is an action-oriented and action-integrated language promotion. The lessons are planned in combination with practical language lessons in learning workshops or an exemplary workplace.
The participants can expand their professional and rudimentary technical language skills in the following professional fields:
- Non-medical health and body care
- warehouse logistics
- cleaning and housekeeping
- Manufacturing, crafts and technology
Ideally, after successfully completing the course, the course participants should be able to take up a job subject to social security contributions at the level of a helper on the primary labor market.

Authorization to participate from the responsible job center or the responsible Federal Employment Agency
